Conclusion

We live in place where our society is constantly on the move. With so many different types of people living in America alone, coming up with a compromise is quite a challenging task. Luckily for us, we live on a nation that protects its inhabitants through the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution. Through these documents each able body is given the right of equality and freedom. But throughout history and today, that may not actually be the case. With the constant struggle for inequality and a recent election, our efforts to stay educated on the world around us are at hand. Times are changing, in the past women were told to stay in the kitchen to cook and take care of the children and the thought of being homosexual was unthinkable. The most important action we can take to secure our God given rights and freedoms is through the act of social involvement. Being there for your community provides an opportunity of growth and support to those with various background differences that, in general, make up the United States of America. At this very moment right now, we have the opportunity to learn more from each other about our democratically acclaimed state and identify issues that are important to all us so that we can eventually live in harmony. There are many ways in which people can get involved with their environment. Whether that be through social media platforms: Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, etc., going to local and social events by participating in small- or large-scale movements, or even by simply voting, the possibilities are endless because at the end of the day, what matters the most is that your voice and perspectives were heard in a time of need. Not to mention, when being actively involved, you gain experiences that can help you with your future endeavors (getting scholarships from universities, new job opportunities), you understand what it means to be a citizen, and the respect and recognition allows you grow as a person and feel confident from helping out in your society. Everyone needs a role model, so why not show others, just like MLK Jr., what it means to be involved in your community.  “Show up. Dive in. Stay at it” (President Obama Farewell Speech).
